https://www.amazon.com/author/winonarasheed.com

My author site on Amazon, just went live! Hidee Hidee Ho!

New Author Website

Well, I did it. I almost went nuts doing it, but I did it. Was it hard? It was a bit complicated and techiefied (New word). But I won! What am I talking about, my new website that I can manage and operate all by myself. It looks pretty darn good to, if I say so myself. I still have a couple of pages to work on, but hey, Rome wasn't built in a day. This takes time and planning. LOL

If you would like to take a look and leave a comment, you can. Just hop on over to:

I keep this up, maybe I can do this web building thing for a living.....NOT!
Just kidding! I will stick to what I do best because it isn't complicated or techie.

Strutting My Stuff

I have always said that the best thing about being an author is watching your manuscript transform into a book. Of course your manuscripts has to go through many stages before it gets to that point, but when it does...it's just amazing; makes ya wanna holler hide e-ho!

My name is Winona and I create stories for children and young adults. So on this page of news and grooves, I am going to fill it with what I do best, going to strut my stuff and show off my book collection, all of which started out as a manuscript. I have seven titles that I am proud to talk about. These are my babies, and trust me, there were some labor pains involved with bringing them to book form. In other words, it didn't happen over night.

I am going to start with my latest book, my newbie. Title: Itchy Scratchy Spots. I am really excited about this new book because it is fully illustrated, my very first one. And I must say, the illustrations are awesome. In this book, you will meet Rudy and her brother Lucky whose sister/brother relationship is like skating on thin ice. After all, sometimes siblings just don't get along. Who out there can relate to that? This book is published by Featherweight Publisher.

Strutting my stuff also includes a book for teens, title: Broken Voices. In this story, the character Ella Rose must deal with going to a new school in a new city. But that is just half her problem as she tries hard not to disclose her secret among a classroom of strangers. After all, it is not easy trying to fit in when you are different and trying to appear normal. This book is published by New Line Press.

I've always been impressed by lions and lionesses, even though I wouldn't want any for a pet. However, I did write a story about the king and queen of the jungle. Title: A New Home for Her Cubs. Kumani is the main character in this book and she is not your typical lioness. She has dreams of a better life for her and her family. But finding such an ideal situation proves not to be as easy task to conquer. This book is also published by New Line Press.

When it comes to struttin' my stuff, another favorite book of mine that is a delightful read is titled: Wohali and the Little People. A lot of research went into writing this fiction book about the Cherokee Indian and their beliefs. Wohali faces the big problem of fearing that he will have to give up his Indian heritage when he start going to a public school. Needless to say, he is proud of who he is and what he represents. Shouldn't we all feel that way about ourselves? This book is published by Writer's Exchange.

These four books are my pride and joy. Why? Because they were accepted for publishing by the publisher. Now I said I have seven books, but only four are stated here. The other three, which are my first published books that carry my name on them, they are self-published. I did it myself and I did it my way. But I was not satisfied doing it myself, I wanted to be approved and accepted. I wanted a publisher to want my manuscript to publish. When that happened,it made me feel worthy of being an author. I felt real, because the publishers confirmed me.I was validated.

I will talk more on my self-published books on another page, on another day when I strut my stuff on News and Grooves of self-publishing, after all we writers/authors do have this option and thank God for another door which opens into publishing.

All of my books, including the self-published ones are sold on websites such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble. I name these two because they are popular, but other online bookstores carry my titles too. That's just amazing to me, and what's even more amazing. When purchasing my books, you have options too. You can order them as paperback books or as e-books for your electronic gadgets. However, with my old vintage self, I prefer the paperbacks....just saying.
